Defying the challenge of an oddly shaped lot which spans only 23 feet in width, this 520-foot needle-like tower claims 43 stories encompassing 122 condominiums, as well as retail space on the ground floor and basement level. With a 15:1 slenderness ratio, this unique building was one of the most slender structures in the world at the time of its completion.

In order to achieve its notable height, the building employs the air rights from several adjacent properties as well as the Theatre Sub-District zoning regulations enacted. The elegant structure cantilevers over an adjacent building to provide additional floor space for each apartment.

The building’s slick, butt-glazed curtain of blue-tinted glass walls has the stunning effect of reflecting both sunrises and sunsets, and offers panoramic views of the Hudson River, Midtown and Downtown Manhattan.

A sense of motion, like a bird taking off into flight, was achieved by the alignment of the balconies situated on the 8th Avenue façade. Each balcony shifts from one side of the building to the other as they move up toward the sky.
